As part of this effort, ARC promotes an awareness of disability as a facet of diversity with underpinnings of collaborative efforts being rooted in social justice. Announcements Lion Plus Program The Lion Plus Program at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) is a fee-based holistic student support program for students with documented disabilities who have affiliated with ARC. The scope of Lion Plus Program services extends beyond legally mandated (ADA) accommodations, which remain free-of-charge, and are a critical component of equitable educational access. For freshmen, the purpose of the Lion Plus Program is to assist with all aspects of transitioning from the high school environment to the TCNJ community, with campus connectedness as a focal point. For upper class students (sophomores, juniors and seniors), the Lion Plus Program is centered on retention, continued integration and academic and interpersonal independence. Deadline for Requesting Housing Accommodations Current students should respond to the recent ResEd housing request for information — it will let TCNJ know that you intend to live on campus next year. The ARC Housing Accommodation Request for 2020-2021 is now available ( click here ), and that is where you will apply for disability-related housing accommodations. That form needs to be submitted by January 24th, 2020. Currently affiliated students do not need to supply any additional supporting documentation unless circumstances have changed. Requests received after the deadline will be placed on a waiting list. Freshmen and transfer students entering TCNJ in the Fall 2020 semester must complete the affiliation process, including all forms and required documentation for a housing accommodation, by June 30. Housing accommodations requests received after that date will by placed on a waiting list, to be considered as rooms become available during the semester. Forms for housing requests will be available later in the spring. Deadline for Requesting Academic Accommodations The deadline for new or revised academic accommodations for the Spring Term is March 1st. Any requests received after this time will be considered for possible application in the next term. Please remember that any revisions to existing accommodations must be accompanied by updated medical documentation that justifies the change requested. Exam Administration Assistance ARC is pleased to be a resource to the TCNJ community for test, quiz and exam proctoring. Note that proctoring must be scheduled at least five days in advance for test and quizzes, and the deadline for scheduling final exams to be proctored is April 15th. Appointment Policy Due to the large number of students requesting meetings with this office, we have had to institute a new appointment policies: We are not able to accommodate next-day appointments. Please expect at least two days advance notice when scheduling an appointment. If you are more than 10 minutes late, your appointment will be cancelled for that day. It is the student’s responsibility to contact us to reschedule a cancelled appointment. If you have a scheduled weekly check-in meeting and miss two meetings in a semester, your meeting time will be taken off the schedule. Please respect your time and ours by keeping your scheduled appointments.
